The coaches were great! Really knowledgable and committed. They really cared about coaching.
I would highly recommend JMT Barcelona!
Indeed, I had an amazing time there with top level and friendly coaches.
I really appreciated the great involvment of our two coaches Andrea and Gabriele who gave us very useful tricks and advice in order to help us improve our game. One can notice they are very concerned with the tennis improvment and more broadly with the well-being of participants. So thanks again!
The course was intense and covered basic techniques, power, serves and strategies, which was perfect for me as I only started playing tennis this year. There were 4 in my group, all of similar ability but the coaches were able to give individual help as well as practical drills, which I can take home and continue to improve my game. All the coaches were enthusiastic, experienced and took time to make sure everyone understood the aims and instructions that were being given. The lunch provided at The Wetlands Centre was excellent and gave time for socialising before back to the tennis. Thanks to everyone for a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable experience. I look forward to seeing you again on a future course.
Boris enjoyed playing with other, stronger children, he made friends
The English lessons didn't add any value as Douglas is, at least in comparison with the other kids in the classroom, fluent in English (as mentioned also in an email conversation with Luca). So that one was wasted money. A pity also that most trainers/coaches where non-native english speakers making the whole experience not so very British. For Douglas that was a bit of a disappointment as there are many tennis camps, for a lot less money when including traveling etc., available here in Germany. From a tennis point of view Douglas was more than happy with the camp and wants to go back next year again.
I was slightly apprehensive before going to the Tennis Camp having never done anything like it before. I needn't have worried. I had a fantastic week . Everyone was very friendly and the coaches put everyone at ease.
We were put in groups according to ability where we could hone our skills but also came together for group sessions.
I found the coaching sessions particularly useful especially with the benefit of the video analysis.
I would definitely recommend the course to anyone who would like to improve their tennis. I shall definitely be rebooking.
Many thanks to Andrea , Paco and Gabs whose encouragement has inspired me to try to be a better player.
I had a great time on the course and would definitely consider taking part again. Everything was very well organised and the coaches were really friendly and helpful. I learnt more in one week than I had in five years before!
Great fun, great coaches.
Food: all right, could be improved.
Booking: problematic for foreigners with average english.
Service on booking was very good with quick responses and helpful, clear information. Fabio and Mauro looked after us very well at the Poiana resort - the quality of tuition was excellent and they're really nice guys to spend time with.
My only suggestion would be to find better accommodation at Lake Garda. It's a great location to visit (Garda) and the Poiana resort was good, but it did feel a bit like being at a holiday camp. And the court quality wasn't brilliant (although did get some repairs while we were there). A better, more private place to stay would have been better for us - but we had a great time.
Thoroughly enjoyed the camp in Barnes. Coaches were great and I liked the format of one coach per day (compared to last year where we moved around different coaching "stations" in one day). There was better building and reinforcing of techniques throughout the day compared to last year, but /I have to say camps both years were excellent.
A major downside this year was the lunch- eg on the last day a spoon of pasta bake and some water! Not more than 1 or 2 pounds worth? I was glad I had a banana in my bag to eat on way back to court. Baked potato other days was slightly better. No fruit, no bread, no juice. Last years simple but nice selection of food was much better. For future either include a decent lunch or leave it to participants to bring a lunch.
We eat always in the same place ,but all the test is amazing : -tennis lessons are really good , coach are also really good.
-the atmosphere is nice
-evening activity are good
My son had a great time at the tennis camp. He enjoyed the well prepared fitness routine and match playing with different players. He definitely wants to come back and would also recommend this camp to his friends.
I would recommend them. This was an intensive course that was well organized and run by experienced coaches.
I found the camp very helpful and the coaches friendly and encouraging.
The are attentive, helpful and react quickly. Good facilities and very good and friendly coaches, according to our son, who attended the summer camp.
The only thing that our son was not happy about was food. There was only cold food for breakfast, and variety of other meals was very narrow. Eating more or less the same for two weeks is not so much fun.
The grass courts were exceptional and the coaching was the right mix of fun yet structured.
Andrea Gabriele and Paco are THE best!
Christ College - the standard rooms are well below acceptable standard and shouldn't be advertised - the ensuite rooms were good - I upgraded. The breakfast is poor - the typical unhealthy fry up and cheap cereals - I ate elsewhere.
Lunch - the packed picnic lunch was fine - I think a variety of picnics would work much better than the pub were the food and service was poor.
Dinner was generally ok.
The activities were brilliant and actively hosted by our amazing coaches.
Thank you to Andrea, Gabriele and Paco - they make this week special - very grateful to them.
Molto divertente e ben organizzato
I truly enjoyed the 6 days of the camp. We were divided into small groups and could learn closely from the coaches. All the coaches were very funny but also serious with plenty of experience.
I also enjoyed the company. It was very nice to meet people who love tennis and I was also able to learn from them.
The social activities were also fun.
I would love to join the camp again.
The experience was very good. The coaches are very competent and kind. The evening activities were very fun and interesting. I didn't enjoy/like grass courts, because the bounce was often wrong. Moreover in each court there were too many people, so we couldn't play full court. The food was very bad.
Je me suis super bien amusée.
Very knowledgeable and helpful coaches.
One of the stand-outs from the Markson weekend (London Tennis Camp - August) is the quality of the coaches. Unlike some other tennis holidays where the coaches are simply on a year out, Markson likes to hire fully qualified teaching pros with years of experience. You can ask the most difficult of questions and you know they will have an answer. More importantly for me, you can ask the most basic of questions and they will take time to work with you. I was struggling with my double-handed backhand and one of the coaches took 20 minutes with me to go over all the fundamentals (grip, body position, footwork etc) to ensure I was comfortable. The 50 best ways to improve yourself - "this is a fun activity holiday," says olivia macleod, veteran of jonathan markson tennis camps in both oxford and the algarve. in a group of six she enjoyed mornings of tuition from excellent coaches and endured revealing video analysis of her game. she left fitter and infinitely more proficient.
For us, the set-up at the Jonathan Markson Tennis Centre in the Algarve works perfectly. Three hours of tennis tuition every morning, then the rest of the day free to do as much or as little as you wish.
It’s a low-key affair, a world away from the big centres like Val da Lobo or Forte Village, but one that works very well. There are five courts in total, three of them brand new this year. Coaching groups are a maximum of six people, although often fewer, which means the tuition is really tailored to each individual. (Read the full article)
I came away with a reconstructed serve that has come along no end. The coaching was deceptively easy-going and the drills were enormous fun. everyone on the course felt they had progressed.
It was clear that, while the coaching was seriously intensive on this course, the social side counted for almost as much. in no time at all the social bonding was becoming firmly fixed. did our tennis benefit from the course? certainly.
The Sunday Times
Physically the camp is demanding but not exhausting. i did learn a lot. i had a great deal of fun.
By the end of the week i was still cursing loose forehands, double faults and fluffed volleys but i had improved almost every aspect of my game – and my confidence.
British Airways Magazine
From my experience of attending both the oxford tennis camp and algarve tennis centre, Jonathan Markson Tennis tends to acquire talented coaches with a sense of humour – and thus hard work is disguised as a lot of fun.
It was encouraging how quickly the coaches could single out flaws.
Serve and Volley Magazine
The coaching is done through a variety of exercises, drill and consultation breaks, so people have constant stimulation and a good deal of fun.
Chris Bauers (Eurosport)
It was all great fun, but between the good-natured banter, an expert analytical eye was at play, correcting obvious faults and praising our better strokes... A lot of laughter mixed with serious endeavour. This was our first experience of a group holiday and we enjoyed it thoroughly.
The views over the famous luz bay are stunning, the cottage-style apartments excellently appointed and the climate pretty much perfect. Walking the cobbled streets of this old fishing village at night, one is struck by the timelessness of the place... Whether you are a of beginner, intermediate or advanced standard your game is guaranteed to improve. the coaches see to that.
